When it comes to marksmanship, Kenlee Ewton, 18, of Soddy Daisy, Tenn., is all in. She’s a regular at the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) Monthly Matches, an indoor competition series for air rifle and air pistol athletes. The event is held each month at the CMP’s own air gun ranges, the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center in Ohio and the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center in Alabama.

Dinh Reaches Perfect 300 Score in CMP’s National Three-Position Air Rifle Postals
The results are in for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) 2022-2023 National Three-Position Postal Competition. The annual sporter and precision junior air rifle event saw 1,370 participants in total over the course of the postal period, which ran from October 2022 to February 2023.
CMP Dedicates South Air Gun Range to former CEO, Judith Legerski
On Friday, March 17, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) held a ribbon cutting and champagne toast to officially mark the renaming of its South Competition Center in Alabama as the Judith Legerski CMP Competition Center, in honor of former Board Chairman and CEO, Judith Legerski. The renaming commemorates Legerski’s many years of commitment to the CMP and marksmanship safety.
NoVA Sharpshooters Win the National Air Pistol League
In an undefeated season, the NoVA Sharpshooters go 8 – 0 and win their first National Air Pistol League title. Hailing from Centreville, VA, the team is composed of 10 members, all of whom are juniors, and coached by Ben Regala.

In an undefeated season, C. T. Johnson AJROTC goes 8 – 0 and wins their first National Air Rifle ‘New Shooter’ League Title. C. T. Johnson AJROTC is from San Antonio, TX and coached by MAJ Tom Groggett.
Zermeno, de Jesus Earn National Titles at 2023 JROTC Air Rifle Championships
Danjela (Jordan) de Jesus, 17, of the Camden County High School Navy JROTC in Georgia is a national champion. At the 2023 JROTC National Three-Position Championship, she not only led the precision air rifle class but finished a perfect run – attaining the leading scores in all three phases of the competition series.
Pyramyd Air Cup 2023 Dates Announced
Pyramyd Air is excited to announce the return of The Pyramyd Air Cup! The premiere airgun event, which features Field Target, Bench Rest, and Gunslynger competitions. Participants are encouraged to compete in multiple events. The event will be held at the Cardinal Shooting Center in Marengo, Ohio.

The CMP Board of Directors is currently comprised of 9 individuals who share the same common interest: advancing marksmanship in the United States through safety, competitions and program opportunities. Though their goals are mutual, they come from an array of backgrounds – bringing with them their own unique experiences for the betterment of the organization. Here, we learn a little more about the individuals who are helping to lead CMP into the future.

I will start with the fact that I am biased about the athlete this article pertains to; however, I am writing this as her coach, not her father. This article is about work ethic and how an 8-year-old decided what she wanted to do with her life and has worked every day to make that dream come true. Registration for the Civilian Marksmanship Program’s (CMP) 2023 National Trophy Pistol and Rifle Matches is officially open! The annual event, held at the Camp Perry National Guard Training Base since 1907, is conducted by a partnership between the CMP and Ohio National Guard and showcases a variety of indoor and outdoor events. Both adult and junior athletes are welcome to participate in this century-old tradition.
