2022 Orion National Air Rifle New Shooter and Air Pistol Leagues are Back

Athlete Awards – New Shooter

To help encourage the development of young athletes and recognize top performers, The League seeks to provide as many awards as possible to deserving teams and their team members. The League is purposefully choosing to emphasize participation and improvement over winning.
The participation and award schedule for 2022 is as follows:
  • Each athlete from each team will receive a participation pin.
  • Each athlete will receive a specially­ designed league sticker that may be placed on his or her rifle.
  • A league poster or banner for each participating team.
  • Engraved medals for each athletes in each team that meets two of the three criteria, with specially designed medals for the top three teams:
  • Participates in all eight games during the season. Teams will be credited for games that were canceled due to Covid-19.
  • Shows improving scores during the season (see below for calculation).
  • Wins 5 or more games during the season.
  • A banner for each team that meets the above criteria.

Athlete Awards – Pistol

To help encourage the development of athletes and recognize top performers, The League seeks to provide as many awards as possible to deserving teams and their team members.
  • The participation and award schedule for 2022 is as follows:
  • Each athlete from each team will receive a participation pin.
  • Each athlete will receive a specially­ designed league sticker that may be placed on his or her pistol or gear box.
  • A League Banner for each participating team to be hung on their range.
  • Engraved medals for each athlete from each team in the top 40% of teams. The top three teams will receive specially designed medals.
  • A banner for each team in the top 40% of teams. The top three teams will receive specially designed banners.
  • The top 4 Junior athletes (U21) across the league with the highest seasonal average will be named to the Junior All-Star team and will receive a plaque in recognition.
  • Teams must participate in at least four games to be eligible for awards.
Awards will not be provided to teams who have not paid their registration fees. Teams must participate in at least four games to be eligible for awards.

Registration Details

There is an $100 per team registration fee. A school or club may only register one team in each of the leagues. For more information visit  the League website or download the complete 2022 National Air Rifle New Shooter League Program or 2022 National Air Pistol League Program
To register please have the following information available:
  • Your Orion Account information.
  • The number of athletes that will be participating on your team.
  • The email address of your local newspaper or school’s newspaper sports editor.
