12.29.20, Springfield, MO. Airgun Hunting Legion is proud to announce the newest pending world record air archery cape buffalo taken by Airgun Hunting Legion member Gary S. of Utah. Gary’s record cape buffalo was taken with the Benjamin Airbow at Motshwere Safari in South Africa in 2018. Gary’s buffalo scores an incredible 103 & 7/8ths inches SCI and is among the first cape buffalo ever taken with air archery equipment.
“Gary’s cape buffalo with air archery equipment is an incredible feat. To be among the first people in the world to accomplish the feat is special and we are thrilled for Gary,” says Director, Jason Reid. “Gary’s cape buffalo proves once again not just to the air rifle hunting community, but to the hunting community as a whole that the ethical power of air archery equipment is undeniable.”
“We studied shot placement photos and discussed our plan with our guides at Motshwere Safari, says Gary.” Stalking black death in thick brush made time seem slow. After quite a way the tracker stopped, and we all froze. Forty seven yards in front of us was what looked like a Volkswagen bug with big ears and angry looking eyes ready to charge. My guide told me to take the shot, and my arrow buried into the center of his chest. After an hour of waiting we found the giant old bull. There is nothing like hunting Cape buffalo except doing it with an air gun.”
