Imperial, MO – The Student Air Rifle Program (SAR) is excited to expand to Pennsylvania with a sustainable partnership.
“Our National Archery in the Schools Program (NASP) is growing exponentially and the interest in target shooting is increasing as well. The Student Air Rifle Program offers a structured curriculum that the Pennsylvania Game Commission is pleased to offer for interested schools”, noted Todd Holmes, Pennsylvania Game Commission Shooting Sports Outreach Coordinator.
“Schools currently participating in NASP will find an easy transition to SAR. Teachers are provided with instructor training at no cost which covers all information needed for a teacher to offer SAR in their school. The equipment is solid, yet easy to use providing a safe and fun introduction to target shooting. We are excited about the opportunity to partner with SAR”, added Todd.
A total of 16 individuals were trained as SAR Basic Air Riflery Instructors (BARI) during the training workshop. Six of the 16 were also trained as Basic Air Riflery Instructor Trainers (BARIT) allowing for more staff to be trained as BARI in the future.
“We are thrilled to now offer SAR in Pennsylvania. For more information on PA SAR, contact Todd Holmes, PA SAR Coordinator, at the PA Game Commission by phone at 717-787-4250 Ext 3330 or by email at toholmes@pa.gov,” mentioned Jake Hindman, President and CEO of SAR.
