MidwayUSA Foundation Announced 2020 Matching Program

January 17, 2020 By Tom McHale

MidwayUSA Foundation

The MidwayUSA Foundation is proud to announce it will continue a donation-matching program in 2020. All donations made to shooting teams with a MidwayUSA Foundation Team Endowment will receive a match. This year’s program will offer $150,000 each month in matching dollars. This cap means the ratio of the match will change each month based on the total contributions for youth shooting teams in that month. There will also be an additional $25,000 in the months of April and September, totaling $175,000 in matching funds. Each of these months will host an Online Donation Drive to encourage more online donations.

Larry and Brenda Potterfield, owners of MidwayUSA, fund the MidwayUSA Foundation Matching Program through personal donations. This critical funding proves their passion to support the growth and long-term funding of youth shooting sports.

MidwayUSA Foundation Executive Director, G. Scott Reynolds, has high hopes for the coming year but knows the successes of 2019 were plentiful. “I’m very happy to highlight that we will be increasing matching and team incentive pools for 2020, as well as adding new product and firearm selections to our non-cash grant inventory.  The past year was fantastic for our Foundation and our supported youth shooting teams. More teams took advantage of our generous matching dollars and ongoing team incentives than ever before. The benefits our kids receive from participating in the youth shooting sports is immeasurable, and we at the Foundation are thrilled to support them.”

Highlights of 2019 include:

  • Over $1.95 million in donations to teams matched
  • $5 million in cash grants paid to teams
  • 1,403 youth shooting teams receiving cash grants to cover expenses
  • A record-breaking Giving Tuesday with $325,952 added to team endowments
  • The launch of additional tools to help teams fundraise, including a Peer-to-Peer platform

Every youth shooting team that has an endowment at the MidwayUSA Foundation has a team page on the MidwayUSA Foundation website [midwayusafoundation.org]. Team pages not only provide team and funding details, but donors can make donations to their favorite team right through this page. Over 2,800 youth shooting teams across the nation have a funded endowment and this online donation capability. 100% of the donation, as well as the match, benefits the team. The Foundation removes nothing for operations.

The MidwayUSA Foundation is a 501(c)(3) public charity working to sustain the shooting sports industry by providing long-term funding to youth shooting teams. Every donation made is tax-deductible and allows the Foundation to assist in expanding and enhancing the leadership skills, confidence, and discipline of today’s youth through shooting sports activities. The Foundation supports all shooting disciplines.
