CMP Provides Variety of Donation Opportunities to Supporters

October 14, 2020 By Tom McHale

For over 20 years, the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) has received immense encouragement from countless individuals who have allowed the organization’s efforts to reach through to the generations. Whether within competition or sales, continuous participation in CMP activities not only broadens marksmanship education but also provides the funding necessary to continue program operations.

As a non-profit, the CMP is dedicated to its mission “to promote the instruction of marksmanship and firearms safety, to conduct firearms competitions and to sponsor firearms safety and marksmanship related programs with emphasis on youth.” The sale of rifles from a federal law that authorizes the CMP to sell surplus .30 and .22 caliber military rifles, parts and ammunition to qualified U.S. citizens “for marksmanship” effectively goes toward the CMP endowment balance for future ventures.

But, for those who are supportive of CMP’s efforts yet unable to take part in sales and programs, or for those who would simply like to contribute even more, donation options have been created through accessible online methods.

Donations:

To make a donation of any amount, just once or even monthly, the CMP has set up a “Donate” page on its website. Visit https://thecmp.org/support/ and fill out the open form to quickly provide additional funding for CMP initiatives.

Planned Giving:

The “Donate” page also contains a link to CMP’s Planned Giving program, which allows prearranged donations, such as within a personal will, stock investments or retirement plan assets (IRAs, 401(K), 403(B) accounts), without adverse effects.

Paver Project:

An option to give back to the CMP while also becoming a visible part of the organization’s legacy is by purchasing a paver at CMP’s Talladega Marksmanship Park in Alabama. Engraved pavers, embedded in designated areas throughout Talladega’s 500 acres, come in 4” x 8” and 8” x 8” sizes, as well as a distinct 4″ x 4″ paver for junior marksmen. Leave a special message or etch a loved one’s name as a thoughtful gift that will last a lifetime and beyond.

AmazonSmile:

Additionally, the CMP is a member of the AmazonSmile program, which allows donations to be sent to charitable organizations. For everything purchased through https://smile.amazon.com, 0.5 percent will be given to the CMP with no fees or extra cost. AmazonSmile also allows certain products to be donated to the organization.

Support Team Member:

Outside of monetary donations, individuals may offer their time as Support Team members during our National Matches or at other CMP events. Being present is an excellent way to not only aid CMP endeavors, but it can lead to new friendships and worthwhile memories on and off the firing line.

Whatever the route, the CMP is grateful for the lasting support of followers and enthusiasts. It’s the generosity of those advocates which allows the expansion of marksmanship safety and training now and into the future.

If you have additional questions about donating to the CMP, please contact Deven Beam at (256) 835-8455 ext. 417 or dbeam@thecmp.org.
